Lateness

Parents and schools share one overriding ambition for their children, which is that they enjoy coming to school and that they learn well.
One of the important ways to help children have happy, productive school days is to get each day off to a smooth start.
Children need to be in the school playground for the 8:55 bell.
If children are late for registration they are missing their social time and their “morning work” time. They arrive at class frazzled and having to play “catch-up”. It is not a good start for them, their teacher, or their class.
We are seeing a regular number of pupils arriving at school late through the front entrance after 9:00 a.m.
Please may I urge you to do your best to have the children at school before 8:55 am when the bell rings.

Library

We always appreciate help with the running of the library. Please let the office know directly if you can give some regular time with sorting and administration of the library.

Uniform

We are really encouraging uniform to be adhered to and no jewellery. Please play your part in checking your youngster in the morning that they are appropriately dressed for the day at school.
Stripes down trousers in particular please find alternative plain black or navy blue trousers.

Stratton Drive Gate

It will be unlocked at 8:30 a.m. and then locked again by 9:10 a.m.
Unlocked around 3:00 p.m.
When you do come to the school playground to collect please avoid walking through PE lessons and peering through the window for your child. It can be very distracting for the class just as the teacher is reminding the children that they have actually learnt something during the day.

Playground

Your child may tell you about incidents in the playground especially about what “so –and –so did to me.” Your child may leave out what happened before the incident!
Before you charge into school and want to demand retribution against the other child please approach the teacher with the information you have and give them a chance to get to the bottom of the incident. Refer to Senior staff if you need to – Mrs. Martin or myself.
We want to reduce conflict on the playground and if there is real bullying occurring then we would want to tackle it head on. Work with us to get to the bottom of the truth. Unfortunately children do not always describe an incident fully all the time straight away.

Parking

The Council are now seriously exploring the use of CCTV and automatic fines for illegally parked cars outside Manor Junior And Manor Infant Schools. This is not a ticket issued by the Headteachers but by people exercising a control over poorly parked cars leading to greater safety for the children.
If you have to drive to school then please park further away and walk the last 200-500 metres. It is more healthy and helps equip some children with road safety skills beneficial for them when they get older.
